Getting Started

vela is the command line tool of VelaStack, an open-source framework for full-stack SvelteKit apps. It prioritizes extensibility and developer control by generating editable code, not hidden abstractions.

Installation

To install the CLI, run the following command:

npm install -g vela

Verify the installation by running:

vela --version

Create a Project

To create a new project, run the following command:

vela create my-project

This will create a new directory called my-project with the project files.

Use an Existing Project

Vela also runs in a SvelteKit project it did not create, such as one from npx sv create. Generators, deploys and several features work there as it is; vela enable backend adds the database, and vela bless upgrades the whole project. See Bless for what works where.

Run the Project

To run the project, run the following command:

cd my-project

npm run dev
